Introduction
Adaptive Hypermedia Systems are those that store some features of
the users in a user model, and personalise their structure and
appearance depending on them. The techniques that are commonly used in
Adaptive Hypermedia are can be classified in two groups:
- Adaptive presentation, that consists in modifying the visual
appearance and concents of the system depending on the user profile.
- Adaptive navigation support, that consists in adapting the
navigation options and the structure of the hyperspace.
Our work in this area consists, mainly, in the development of the tool
called welkin, an on-line adaptive information system for
university students that, combined with NLP techniques, modifies
completely the presentation of the contents depending on the student's
interests and availability of time.
